Project Overview
A mining operator in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province of Poland initiated a fleet-wide replacement of aging power transformers to comply with the EU Regulation 548/2014 Tier2 energy efficiency standards. The existing units—many operating beyond their design life—suffered from high no-load and load losses, frequent failures, and escalating maintenance costs. With the mine running 24/7, unplanned outages directly impacted production. Additionally, standard industrial transformers could not withstand the site’s humid, dusty, and mildly corrosive underground environment. The client required new, certified, high-efficiency oil-immersed transformers that met both EU regulations and Polish mining safety codes.
